Dr. Joy was born in Zimbabwe a few miles from the mighty Mosi-oa-Tunya, otherwise known as Victoria Falls, and is a descendant of the Ndau-Shangani people.
While she lived in many parts of the country, she has called the town of Glen
View home since she arrived there in 1982. She attended Glen-View 1 primary school, then Hartzell Primary school, and Hartzell High school located in the town of Mutare.
She is a member of the West Linn Satellite Rotary club, co-chair of Building Bridges of West Linn and serves on the West Linn Art and Culture Commission.
She works at FORA Health Treatment & Recover Center and also teaches at Portland State University.
Dr. Joy holds a Bachelor’s of Business from University of Zimbabwe, an M.B.A, from Syracuse University as well as a PhD in Medical Sociology from Portland State University.
She carries Certificates of Advanced Studies in Public Policy, Drug and Alcohol Counseling, Gender, Race and Nations.
Dr. Joy straddles the Atlantic ocean and celebrates this gift to be able to connect people from all walks of like. In her travels she has met artists who either make the work themselves or source it. She brings the art in the hope that when it is bought, she can reinvest the proceeds back to the artists and into the work she does.
